Recognition by the Serbian Film Association for the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces

The Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces were awarded recognition by the Serbian Film Association at a ceremony at the Belgrade City Assembly tonight, on the occasion of marking a decade of its existence.

The recognition that was received on behalf of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces, Colonel Mihailo Zogović, Head of the Public Relations Department, was awarded by the Serbian Film Association Board in gratitude for the generous support provided for the development of the film industry and the coordination necessary for the production work.

According to the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, who addressed the guests with a video message at the ceremony, since 2015 – when the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the incentive program of the Serbian Film Association, to date, about 150 projects have gone through the incentive program, thanks to which Serbia directly attracted EUR 67 million in foreign and domestic investments, and indirectly more than EUR 100 million in investments.

- For every Euro of stimulus invested, somewhat more than two Euros flow into the budget of the Republic of Serbia, with about seven and a half Euros returning to the economy of the Republic of Serbia. That is why every year the Government increases the budget for incentives and I expect that we will do the same in 2020. Nowadays, the state invests 18 times more in film than it did 10 years ago, and by far the most of all countries in the region, which I am particularly proud of, since it demonstrates the importance of investing in the culture and cultural life of Serbia – Prime Minister Brnabić said.

After receiving the recognition, Colonel Zogović said that this award was a confirmation of the successful cooperation of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces with the Serbian Film Association.

- At the Public Relations Department, we carefully consider all applications that come from film productions and do our best, in accordance with the state incentive measures related to the film industry, to grant in the greatest possible measure the requests made by the film companies, without disturbing the regular activities of the Serbian Armed Forces in the process – pointed out Colonel Zogović and especially thanked the Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin and the Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Milan Mojsilović, who through their personal authority and engagement make it possible to have the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces contribute greatly to the development of the film culture and film industry in Serbia.

Due to the joint efforts of the Government, numerous state institutions and businesses, the film industry has become one of the pillars of the creative industry in the country and the region, with more than EUR 30 million annually from real projects alone being filmed in Serbia, and our country has become an indispensable site in Eastern Europe when it comes to film and commercial production.
