Special recognition of the Book Fair for the publishing venture

At the award ceremony for the most successful publishers at the 64th International Belgrade Book Fair, Odbrana Media Centre of the Public Relations Department was presented special recognition for publishing venture for the work entitled “List of military and civilian casualties of the Kingdom of Serbia in World War I”,

Special recognition for this capital work prepared by the Military Archives and the Public Relations Department, was received by Colonel Mihailo Zogović, Head of the Public Relations Department.
In explanation of the decision, president of the jury, prof. Dragan Simeunović, emphasized that this project is of great importance for professional, scientific and the general public, in order to preserve the tradition and culture of memory and educate young generations about the extent and magnitude of the suffering of the people in World War I.

- Fourteen volumes of encyclopaedic format, with about ten thousand pages, provide lists of fallen officers, soldiers and civilians, which will enable scientists and anyone who investigates Serbian casualties in World War I to gain an in-depth insight into Serbia's military archives. This cumbersome, most welcome project, has enabled the exploration of a large number of individuals and preserved valuable archival material from direct use and further decay, jury president, professor Dragan Simeunović, said.

Head of the Public Relations Directorate, Colonel Mihailo Zogović, thanked the Military Archives for doing a great job extracting information on military and civilian casualties in World War I from its archival material. This is information that, apart from 14 books, was also published on DVD, which can be purchased at the fair booth of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

- By this work, we repay the debt to our great ancestors, whose immortality lives on in our memories, and as of today, in this capital publication. I wish to thank the jury for recognising and distinguishing this work of exceptional national value among so many books at this year's Fair, Colonel Zogović said.

Captain (N) Goran Petrović, Director of the Military Archives, emphasised that the project started in 2013, as one of the activities commemorating the centenary of World War I, and thanked the associates from the Military Archives and colleagues from the Public Relations Department for their great efforts

Miroslav Toholj, head of the Publishing Division of Odbrana Media Centre “Military Book”, said that “this special acknowledgment obliges us in the future to select with increased care and interest the manuscripts that we are going to publish and make available to the Serbian Armed Forces and the entire Serbian public”.
