First Medal for Serbia at the World Military Games in China





Member of national team of the Serbian Armed Forces, wrestler Mate Nemeš, won today the bronze medal in competition at the 7th CISM World Military Games in the People’s Republic of China.

Nemeš has achieved this great success for the Serbian Armed Forces and the state of Serbia in wrestling in Greek-Roman style in the category up to 67 kilograms.

Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin sent a congratulatory message to Mate Nemeš for winning the bronze medal, the first medal for Serbia at the Military Games in China.

Mate Nemeš did not hide his happiness and satisfaction after winning the bronze medal and added that he is “certain that there will be more medals for Serbia”.

- I hope that the swimmers will win the second medal for Serbia today, and there will be more tomorrow. Viktor Nemeš can win a medal as well, and there will be medals in taekwondo and marathon. I would like to thank the Ministry of Defence and the minister of defence, for having given soldiers the opportunity to compete in China, and I am happy that I was given that chance and I have won the medal - stated Mate Nemeš.

The world renowned wrestler Davor Štefanek, who is at the games in the role of a coach for the first time, congratulated him on the won bronze medal.

- This is the first medal at the military games in China. I am truly satisfied, and I hope that other members of our national team will be successful. Tomorrow, I also expect medal from Mate’s twin brother Viktor and I wish that wrestling with our two competitors brought us two medals. I congratulate Mate once again and I would just add - that is what we the wrestlers are like - Štefanek said.
