Minister Vulin’s Meeting with Ambassador Bocan Harchenko

Today, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin met the new Ambassador of the Russian Federation in Belgrade Alexander Bocan Harchenko.

Minister Vulin welcomed Bocan Harchenko and expressed his gratitude to former Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Chepurin for his contribution to defence cooperation enhancement between the two countries, adding that he was confident that with Ambassador Bocan Harchenko, who is an authority on the situation in the Balkans, the successful cooperation would continue.

According to Minister Vulin, there are deep historical roots between our states, and an open and sincere relation of the two presidents and supreme commanders of the armed forces of the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation, Aleksandar Vučić and Vladimir Putin, can only make them even stronger, which will certainly contribute to creation of even better results in the field of defence cooperation and the overall cooperation too.

Minister Vulin expressed particular gratitude to the Russian Federation for its support to territorial integrity of Serbia and the efforts to arrive at a compromise regarding Kosovo and Metohija, and for the consistent support to positions of Serbia in the United Nations Security Council, in situations when the interests of our state were jeopardised.

Speaking about the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, Minister Vulin explained that the attempts at creating “Armed Forces of Kosovo” are absolutely unacceptable, while the attempts at creating “Greater Albania” represents a threat to peace in the entire Balkans. Especially worrying is the silence of the international community and of the countries of the region - Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin said.

Minister Vulin told the Ambassador of the Russian Federation that he was pleased to accept personal invitation of Minister of Defence Shoygu to attend “International Military Games 2019” in Moscow.

At today’s meeting, the military to military cooperation was assessed as one of the most successful aspects of cooperation between Serbia and Russia, particularly the conduct of joint exercises and continuation of military technical cooperation.

The minister of defence wished all the best to Ambassador Bocan Harchenko on his new duty and success in his diplomatic mission.
