Minister Vulin: Modern heliport for Serbian Armed Forces and all our citizens

Minister of Defense Aleksandar Vulin, Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Milan Mojsilović, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense, Major-Genera, Duško Žarković and Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, Mirjana Čizmarov attended the opening of the new heliport at the Military Medical Academy today.

After visiting the newly constructed structure and information about the works performed on the infrastructure arrangement of the MMA heliport, Minister Vulin pointed out that this is the most modern and the only proper heliport in Serbia, which has all the elements foreseen for this purpose, adding that until recently there was only one landing point and no illumination on the MMA heliport.

- Now we have two landing points, both have lighting, which means that in all weather conditions, day and night, we can receive all types of helicopters, regardless of their size. Patients of the MMA have thus received a valuable service, and the Serbian Armed Forces have acquired a new capability, and all the citizens of Serbia a valuable asset. Every investment in the Serbian Armed Forces is an investment in the quality of life of every citizen; and the stronger and better equipped Serbian Armed Forces are, the more new capabilities there are, the stronger Serbia will be and easier the life of every citizen of our country – Minister Vulin pointed out.

The Minister of Defense thanked Mirjana Čizmarov, Director of the Civil Aviation Directorate of the Republic of Serbia, for a large donation of RSD 25 million, adding that all funds for the heliport infrastructure works were provided from donations and not the budget.

- It is a great pleasure for me to thank director Čizmarov for understanding and recognizing the need to assist the MMA patients, as well as all our citizens, but also the Serbian Armed Forces. I invite other socially responsible entities in this country to always think in the direction of helping their armed forces, as this will also help their country. Heliport is open, it will be used and we hope that we will always use it for peaceful purposes and always for good, but it is there around the clock at the disposal of all the citizens of our country, not only the members of the armed forces – said Minister Vulin.
Speaking about the significance of the newly constructed structure at the MMA heliport, the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defense, General Žarković, pointed out that the conditions for the accommodation of the helicopter crews, internal services, as well as medical personnel and persons transported by helicopters were now provided.

- It is the only heliport in the Republic of Serbia that provides the conditions for simultaneous landing of two helicopters, in two positions, day and night and in all conditions. It is extremely important for the Air Force and Air Defense and MMA, but also for the entire defense system – emphasized General Žarković, adding that from 1 January 2019 this heliport is operational and that the conditions for landing of all helicopters are provided.

The opening ceremony was also attended by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defense, Bojan Jocić, Head of the Directorate of Military Medicine, Brigadier General Uglješa Jovičić and Acting Head of the MMA, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavljević.
