Edition “Ratnik” at the Book Fair

In their programme for presenting new titles at this year’s 63rd International Book Fair in Belgrade, which is taking place from 21st to 28th October, the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces have 20 new titles. The books are classified in several libraries, such as the Military Book, History, Nonfiction, Geopolitics, Military Technical Engineering, Military Health, and Art and other.

The central event is going to be the presentation of a capital edition “Ratnik” with seven volumes containing several thousand pages of memories of participants in war actions in Kosovo and Metohija during NATO Aggression in 1999.

The first four books of the edition are the war journal of the Third Army Commander of the Yugoslav Armed Forces Lieutenant General Nebojša Pavković, titled “The Third Army in the embrace of the Merciful Angel for seventy eight days”. On 2,228 pages, General Pavković, in a manner of a supreme chronologist, chronologically, argumentatively and with a lot of documentation, describes day after day what happened in the Third Army defence area in 1999.

The fifth book of the edition titled “Priština Corps 1998-1999 – testimonies of war commanders” was prepared by Dragana Marković and it consists of the memories of Priština Corps Commander General Vladimir Lazarević and brigade and autonomous battalion commanders within the Corps of the year of war 1999 in Kosovo and Metohija. These are the words of warriors who experienced all possible trials in war and afterwards, who lived to see that their deeds were cast aside, depreciated, without learning the lessons for the future concepts of security of Serbia. Those words stand like a warning to conscience. The book is a precious assistance to those who have to make tough and decisive decision in the circumstances of new trials for Serbia.

The sixth and seventh books of the edition, “Battle of Košare” and “Battle for Paštrik” prepared by Radenko Mutavdžić, bring back the memories of the combatants of Košare and Paštrik during NATO Aggression in 1999, at the first line of defence, faced with the attempted land invasion of the enemy in Kosovo and Metohija, on the border between Albania and the FR Yugoslavia. The books contain shocking stories of the hell of Košare and days when the stone of Paštrik burned, but the heroes of defence stood their ground, not relinquishing a foot of their fatherland.

Promotions of the books from the edition “Ratnik” and other editions are scheduled during the days of the Book Fair at the stand of the Media Centre “Odbrana” in the ring of the Hall 1. The members of the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces have free entrance to the Book Fair upon presenting their service card at the ticket-office of the Belgrade Fair.
