“Our Children” concert




 
Children whose parents are employed or retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have performed this evening at the Central Military Club in Belgrade at the traditional concert “Оur Children”, accompanied by the “Stanislav Binički” Art Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence. Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has also supported young talents by his presence and decided that all talented children, participants in the concert, should be rewarded.
 
Minister Vulin said that, apart from parents, everyone should be proud that we have such children and wished them to succeed, whatever occupation they choose in their life, keeping in mind that their Serbia likes them.
 
The guests of the concert were the children's choir “Horislavci” and the famous virtuoso on the accordion Branimir Đokić, with conductors Pavle Medaković, Vojkan Borisavljević, Draško Janković and Mihajlo Petraš.
 
Although it was previously planned that 15 most talented children perform at the concert “Our Children”, due to a large number of extremely talented children, the expert jury decided to have as many as 28 performers this year. The aim is to stimulate the musical creativity of young people, which is the basic idea of the “Our Children” project of PR Department, as Commander Svetozar Vasileski, head of the Artistic Ensemble pointed out in his opening address.
 
The concert started with the sounds of piano and sixteen-year-old Luka Tutunović who played Beethoven Sonata in F Major, followed by Magdalena Nešković with “Wedding Day at Troldhaugen” and Vukša Vučetić and Gillock's “Sarabande”.
 
The numerous audience then had the opportunity to enjoy the Bach Suite in H-Moll played on flute by Aleksandra Tolić, accompanied by the orchestra, and then Mozart's Andante C-dur KV 315 played on flute by Teodora Radović of Valjevo.
 
Stefan Lazić performed on the piano, accompanied by the orchestra, the first movement from Bach's Concerto in F Minor, while Jovana Janjić played "The Seasons for the Piano" (August) by Tchaikovsky, while Dimitrije Pavlov showed his talent playing the bassoon in Weisendorf's “Theme and Variations”.
 
Ten-year-old Milica Miletić sang “I am no longer a little child”, and Petar Polkaposki sang a famous song by Đorđe Balašević “Just May There be no War”. The audience was also delighted by the play and singing of Quartet Puškarević from Kanjiža, followed by trombonists Lazar Petković and Jovan Vojinović with a famous melody from the “The Godfather” film, while Sergej Skeledži from Novi Sad presented himself with his virtuous violin playing performing the Brahms Hungarian Dances.
 
Nina Jovanović from Obrenovac sang “May love shine everywhere” accompanied by the orchestra, and Andjela Koruga and Anđela Tasić encharmed the audience with the famous hit by Abba - “The winner takes it all”. The audience greeted with gusto the youngest participants in this year's concert, who were just five years old, Natalija and Teodora Živković who sang the song “Cookies” accompanied by the children's choir "Horislavci", and then “Horislavci”, the guests of the “Our Children” concert -  sang the song “Come on Jana”.
 
Milena Kostić of Prokuplje showed her vocal capabilities with the song "Golden Day", while Una and Mia Ganić, playing the guitar and violin, sang legendary Cohen's “Hallelujah”.
 
Staša Petrađ played Concerto for violin and orchestra by Kabalevsky, Sara Olujić plazed Saint-Saens' Concert Piece for Horn and Orchestra, while Ana Tomić shined in the Nessun dorma aria from Giacomo Puccini's opera Turandot.
 
After the performance of Branimir Đokić, renowned virtuoso on the accordion, all the participants of this year's “Our Children” concert greeted the audience once again, which was also a chance for a joint photo with the minister of defence, and then for socialising.
