Noteworthy start of Serbian tankmen

The atmosphere at the military "Olympics" in Moscow Oblast is flourishing, and the second day of the tank biathlon, within the framework of qualifying individual races, the first of the three tank crews of the Serbian Armed Forces has performed. The Serbian tankmen took the second place in a great race, immediately behind Russia, which is the first favourite of the biathlon. This group included also the Iranian team.

Credits for the first good news from the Russian capital belong to the crew of the first team of the Serbian Armed Forces comprised of Lieutenant-General Mladen Ikić, tank commander, Corporal Dejan Milanović, the driver, and Corporal Bogoljub Arsov, the aimer.

The second team of the Serbian Armed Forces will compete on Tuesday, 31st July, and the third team will perform on 5th August.

Competition rules require that after the end of individual races, the time of all teams are to be summed up, and on the basis of the best results, the participating countries are ranked for entering the semi-finals in which the top 12 teams will be placed.

It is equally dynamic in other locations as well where the Army Games are held, so both “engineers” and “snipers” use every free moment for preparations, as strong competition is awaiting for them in both disciplines.

In the vicinity of Volgograd, in the city of Volzhsky, our “engineers” are making final preparations for testing strength in the discipline Engineering Formula, within which, on a pit-stop, each machine performs an engineering task, according to its purpose. The crew consists of crews of a backhoe, a "BAT" dozing machine, an obstacle clearing machine and a self-propelled floating transporter.

Engineering tasks are practiced at 650 hectares on the training ground of the 187th engineering centre, located on the island surrounded by the Volga and Ahtuba rivers. The competition itself is carried out on the shores and on the Ahtuba River itself, and our “engineers” give their best in spite of hot summer temperatures from 31 to 36 degrees and frequent rains.

In this discipline, on the course of 2,600 meters, five countries are competing, and besides us and Russia as the host, there are also Pakistan, Belarus and China. The final race will be held on 5th August.

Preparations of the nine-member team of the Serbian Armed Forces in the Sniper Frontier discipline in Belarus, not far from Minsk, are also entering the final stage, and the competitors will be able to show their skills both in the individual part and in the sniper pairs. The preparations of the Serbian Armed Forces' sniper team include firing on a fire line, consulting with the sniper team of colleagues from the Russian Federation, as well as testing the accuracy of the Dragunov sniper rifle.
