Free of charge medical examinations on the occasion of the Medical Service Day

On the occasion of the Medical Service Day, the Military Healthcare Department of the Ministry of Defence organized free of charge specialist examinations for citizens at the Military Medical Centre Karaburma, Military Hospital Niš and Military Hospital Novi Sad.

For free of charge medical examinations, which have been organized for the 13th time by military health institutions, over 700 citizens applied, 290 were in Belgrade, about 160 in Niš and more than 180 in Novi Sad. All interested citizens, including those who did not have health insurance, could have applied for specialist examinations.

To ensure that everything worked perfectly and that all scheduled patients received the treatment, the Head of the Centre for Military Medical Institutions, Belgrade, Colonel Dr. Slavoljub Staletović, personally visited the medical centre with the Head of Military Medical Centre Karaburma, Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Milan Mladenović.

On that occasion, Colonel Staletović emphasized that it was a campaign organized in military healthcare institutions on the occasion of the Day of the Medical Service, with the consent of the Minister of Defence, Alexander Vulin.

– On this occasion, we organize free of charge specialist examinations in three military medical institutions in Niš, Novi Sad and Belgrade, and VMC Karaburma. The response of the citizens is extremely high in all these military medical institutions, and we have managed to, thanks to the capacities we have, register about 700 patients, said Colonel Staletović, adding that it has been the fifth campaign organized by the Centre of Military Medical Institutions Belgrade since the beginning of the year, and it is evident that citizens need and desire to be examined by our experts.

According to the Head of MMC Karaburma, around 290 citizens from Belgrade and surrounding places have registered today for free of charge medical examinations of eight specialties in that medical institution and be able to perform diagnostic procedures, such as ultrasound of the abdomen and heart.

– By 10 a.m. we examined about 30 percent of patients scheduled and until now we have not recorded any problems in the work. Otherwise, the interest was extremely high, so most free terms were scheduled for the first day, said Lieutenant Colonel Mladenović, expressing the hope that the same action will be re-organized so that all interested people would have the opportunity to get medical services.

He pointed out that today's action was assisted by doctors from MMC Novi Beograd, especially radiologists, since the interest in ultrasound diagnostics was greatest.

Among the citizens who took advantage of today's free examinations was Boža Filipović, who had an examination at a doctor of physical medicine.

– The doctor and the nurse were extremely professional, precise and clear in explanations, and very kind, Filipović said, stressing that, if necessary, they would apply again for free of charge examinations in military institutions.

At the time when she was scheduled, Evica Nedović entered the internist’s infirmary. She found out about the campaign watching television.

– I had an appointment with the internist at 8:20, everything went fine, I was immediately called. After the doctor examined me, she gave me a referral to the laboratory where they had done all the necessary analyses. The doctor was extremely kind, she examined me in detail and looked at all my previous findings. I am extremely satisfied with this service, and it would be great if I could do some more examinations, Nedović said, adding that for doctors and nurses in MMC Karaburma there were only words of praise.

In the Military Medical Centre Karaburma, the citizens of Belgrade were able to be examined by an internist, cardiologist, neurologist, otorhinolaryngologist, physiatrist, gynecologist, dermatologist, pulmonologist and ophthalmologist.

At the Military Hospital Niš, all interested citizens were offered services by cardiology specialists, gastroenterology, endocrinology, neurology, general surgery, ophthalmology, otorhinolaryngology and urology, while in Novi Sad, in the Military Hospital, citizens had the opportunity to consult with cardiologists, nephrologists, pulmonologists, dermatologists, general surgeons, gynecologists and neurologists.

Within free of charge examinations, basic blood analyses, determination of blood sugar levels, ECG, radiographic imaging, ultrasound examinations, as well as other diagnostic-therapeutic procedures were carried out, but only according to the indications of specialist doctors.

At the end of last year and at the beginning of this year, the Ministry of Defence opened the doors of its healthcare centres in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Niš, Kraljevo, Vranje and Bačka Topola, during which the military doctors-specialists examined thousands of citizens of Serbia, rendering them top healthcare services. The campaign of free of charge examinations continued to be of great interest in all the cities in which it was organized, first of all because of the professionalism and quality of the work of the employees in military healthcare centres, and then the possibility to carry out examinations in one day, what usually took nearly months to perform.
