Minister Vulin: We are renewing military infrastructure again

Defence Minister Aleksandar Vulin has opened today, in the presence of General Ljubiša Diković, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, a refurbished and modernised pistol shooting range at the General Jovan Mišković barracks in Belgrade.

On the occasion of the opening of the shooting range, members of the “Cobras” Military Police Special Operations Battalion and the Military Academy cadets demonstrated exercises on “Simulation of shooting using small arms training simulator”, “Current target shooting” and a live exercise.

As Minister Vulin emphasized, thanks to the great understanding and support of the President of the Republic of Serbia and Supreme Commander of the Serbian Armed Forces, Aleksandar Vučić, and the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the process of renewing military infrastructure has begun.

- These have been the largest investments in the Military Academy since its foundation and it is for the first time that we have such a modern and state-of-the-art shooting range since 1989. The Serbian government allocated RSD 78 million for refurbishing of all shooting ranges in the Military Academy and we can say that our cadets and members of the Special Force units will be able to get trained in accordance with the world highest standards. There is nothing more modern in the world than this, and I am particularly pleased to say that the technology of falling targets has been adopted exactly by the experts from the Military Technical Institute. So, this is our brains and our knowledge, the Minister of Defence said.

He pointed out that any investment in the Serbian Armed Forces is investment in our knowledge, which is also investment in the standard of each of our citizens and better life of every citizen of Serbia.

- The shooting range will serve for us to be better trained, and training is one of the priorities of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces. Our soldier must be trained, equipped and satisfied. Just as we build apartments for the members of the Armed Forces, as we provide new uniforms and weapons, we also provide renewal of military infrastructure and we are now renewing and putting into operation everything that has been deliberately and plannedly neglected and destroyed for decades. The Serbian Armed Forces is the guardian of this country and therefore deserves the greatest attention and care, Minister Vulin concluded.

According to General Diković, a unique facility has been opened today in the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

- The facility has multiple purposes and does not lag behind such facilities in foreign armed forces. It allows us to teach people to shoot, from the initial training to the advanced and final one, and to check their competences - firearms and tactical qualifications, to be able to assess indoors, at the same time, whether the target was hit and how it happened. The Cobras members, who have demonstrated today their excellent shooting qualifications, expressed their satisfaction as well. I am sure that we will improve the firearms qualifications, precision and accuracy of shooting for cadets and other members of the Serbian Armed Forces, the Chief of General Staff said.

Commandant of the Military Academy, Colonel Miroslav Talijan, pointed out that investing in the pistol shooting range, its adaptation and reconstruction, greatly contributed to the improvement of training in the field of weaponry and shooting.

- In the shooting range, cadets will carry out a series of preparatory shooting, tactical drills and shooting in movement. In addition to this shooting range, the virtual part of the shooting range is being adapted for practicing live firings. I wish to thank all those who supported the modernisation of the shooting range, which has not been invested in for so many years, Colonel Talijan said.
