Minister Vulin at the event “Krajina songs, dances and customs”
Serbia will continue to fight for the rights of those expelled from Croatia
Today, Minister of Defence Aleksandar Vulin has attended the event “Krajina songs, dances and customs” in Busije, near Zemun, organized by the Association of Refugees and Displaced Persons in the Republic of Serbia.
On this occasion, Minister Vulin said that the state of Serbia does not divide its citizens on where they came from or when they arrived. Others divided us, the minister underlined, and it is up to us to unite. He said that the Government of the Republic of Serbia, that the state of Serbia, headed by Aleksandar Vučić, in talks with representatives of the international community, never miss the opportunity to ask for the abolition of the rights of Serbs who were expelled from Croatia, their pensions, their property rights, for unpaid reckonable service.- All that governments before us could and had to do but they did not work on it, as they, accepting the dictates of the great and powerful ones, always forgot that had to support their people above all. It is nice to be here today. It is nice to be among the Serbs. It is nice to be among people who remember their origin, their homeland, and who gave a lot to the state of Serbia. The state of Serbia would not have been as upright if they had not made it stand tall, and Serbia would not have been as worthy, if they had not been worthy in it; Serbia would not have been so happy if there had not been laughter and crying of their children – Minister Vulin said.
He added that the state will always keep in mind that the rights of the expelled Serbs from Croatia are respected and it will struggle for what was denied to them to be returned and that the flow of time should never influence that.
- Everyone who came here, whether they were running away from Kama knives and pits, whether they were born here, enjoy the same rights, enjoy the same respect. We can not divide the Serbs on where they came from; we cannot divide them by what kind of dialect they speak or what their customs are when they are getting married. The Serbs are unity, they are united. That is how the state of Serbia perceives them. What is the beauty of our diversity is that werespect our traditions; it is respecting those differences that make us more valuable, not creating any need or cause for any division - said Aleksandar Vulin, who traditionally visits the gathering in Busije.
On behalf of the Coordination of the Association of Refugees and Displaced Persons in the Republic of Serbia, Nenad Abramović thanked Minister Vulin and the Serbian Armed Forces for supporting the event and organising the preparation and free distribution of several hundred rations of military beans.
- We hope to continue with such events as they are an expression of the preservation of our culture, our tradition, and at the same time our integration into the Republic of Serbia. I will take the opportunity to invite you to be at the tenth jubilee gathering of Serbs here in Busije, next year, Abramović said.
The traditional gathering of Serbs who were expelled from the Serbian Krajina, as well as other territories of the former Yugoslav republics during the wars of the nineties, passed with traditional songs and dances from their homeland. A strong message has also been sent that their human and civil rights must be respected, especially in the countries that are now part of the European Union.
