International Women’s Day Observed in the Ministry of Defence and Serbian Armed Forces




 
Today, the commands and units of the Serbian Armed Forces observed 8th March – Women’s Day by occasional events.
 
At a reception organised in the Army Command in Niš, Army Commander Lieutenant Colonel MilosavSimović congratulated 8th March to female members of the Army Command, Company Command, Platoon of air surveillance and warning, Military Club –Nišand the FirstDegree Military Disciplinary Court and Prosecutor’s Office – Niš. The International Women’s Day was also festively observed in all the Army units.
 
On the occasion of Women’s Day, the Training Command organised a reception for all the female colleagues who were addressed by Deputy Commander of the Training Command Brigadier General Jelesije Radivojević.
 
In AF and AD Command and units, the Women’s Day was celebrated by a handover of occasional gifts to the female members of that arm of the Serbian Armed Forces.
 
Congratulating the women’s holiday to the female members of AF and AD in the Aviation Club in Zemun, Deputy Commander of AF and AD Brigadier General Sava Milenković highlightednumerousadvantages brought by greater admittance of women in the units of Serbian Air Forces.
 
International Women’s Day was marked in all organisational units of the Ministry of Defence as well.
Cadets of the Military Academy presented their colleagues, the future officers, with gifts as a token of appreciation.
 
International Women’s Day or the Eight of March is dedicated to women and it is marked every year on that day in memory of the day of struggle for economic, political and social equality of women and men. As International Women’s Day, 8th March was accepted in 1917, while the United Nations started officially observing it in 1975 as International Women’s Day.
