Santa Claus at “Batajnica” Airfield
Today, at “Batajnica” airfield, Santa Claus and a Good Fairy shared New Year’s gifts to the children from the Home for children and youth without parental care “Spomenik” from Pančevo, „Children Village“ from Obrenovac and to the children from families with four and more children from the territory of the city of Belgrade.
The members of the 204th Air Force Brigade, Sergeant Goran Krajinović, who on this occasion played the role of Santa Claus and Lieutenant Colonel Milica Orović, who was wearing the costume of the Good Fairy, arrived at the airfield in the plane An-26 pf the 138th Transport Aviation Squadron, after which they shared the New Year’s gifts provided by the First Student Humanitarian Organisation “Smile as a Gift”.
Deputy Commander of the 204th Air Force Brigade Colonel Saša Mijailović, pointed out that it was a great pleasure of all the members to have an opportunity to make day better for the youngest.
- In the period behind us, the pilots of our Transport Aviation landed on the airfield in Europe, Asia, Africa, but today we had a special assignment, and we flew to Lapland and brought back Santa Claus with the Good Fairy – Colonel Mijailović said, noting that all the employed at the Batajnica airfield were happy because they had an opportunity to share magical holiday moments with the children without parental care.
Andrija Tašmanović from the student organisation “Smile as a Gift” reminded that the cooperation with the 201th Air Force Brigade had been initiated six years before and that ever since sharing New Year’s gifts was successfully organised at that military airfield to mutual satisfaction. He said that in that year around 40 little ones had an opportunity to spend time with the airmen in a festive atmosphere, noting that they tried each year to bring other children.
This is a traditional event organised for the sixth time in a row at Batajnica airfield by the members of the 204th Air Force Brigade and the Foundation “Smile as a Gift” trying to make the upcoming holidays better for the children in an unusual way.
