Support for Serbian Defence Industry

Minister of Defence of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vulin held a meeting today in the Sector for Material Resources with the management, boards of supervisors and unions of the Serbian defence industry companies.

The subject of the gathering was the current situation and problems which they face, and the status of the business affairs of the companies of that strategically important industry and the level of the implementation of investments and expected results.

In a constructive atmosphere they discussed mutual relations within unions of the companies and the requirements for the enhancement of development for the needs of the Serbian Armed Forces, particularly in terms of the programme for development and procurement of arms and military equipment which is to be produced by Serbian defence industry. According to plans, it should be on a far higher level than it was in recent years.

At the meeting a need was expressed for sped up employment, in line with the requirements of production as well as for the improvement of working conditions and the recognition of a special status of the collectives that make Serbian defence industry.

It was agreed that all should give their maximal contribution in order to create conditions to carry out all agreed activities without any obstacles and to better the conditions wherever it is possible, and Minister Vulin guaranteed that the Ministry of Defence, in coordination with other state bodies and ministries, would do all to create conditions so that the problems of the industry in transition would be resolved, and that the debt conversion would be finalised, along with the creation of conditions to accelerate administrative procedures in all the areas that are an obstacle for successful business of Serbian defence industry companies.
