The Day of the Directorate for Codification, Standardization and Metrology marked

The day of the Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology – 5th July, was officially celebrated in the presence of representatives of the organizational units of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, representatives of the Defence Industries, as well as representatives of the Institute for Standardization of Serbia and the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals of Serbia.

The 154th anniversary of the organized, normatively regulated application of standardization was also marked. The direct holder of the standardization function, and at the same time the highest expert body in the MoD and SAF, is the Directorate for Standardization, Codification and Metrology, which carries out tasks and represents the highest expert body in the field of material standardization, as the National Codification Bureau of the Republic of Serbia and the central authority for metrology in MoD and SAF. As such organizational unit, it has existed since April 2010 and has recorded a number of impressive results over the past seven years.

In the past period since its establishment, the functional competences of the Directorate have been fully normatively rounded out through a series of laws, regulations, guidelines, international agreements, as well as agreements with the Institute for Standardization of Serbia and the Directorate for Measures and Precious Metals. A complete standard book has been digitized and they completely switched to electronic communication. Since June 2014, the Directorate has been certified as a Tier 2, a full member of the NATO codification system.

In addition to the continuity of growth in the achieved results, this year, the drafting of three normative acts was initiated to further regulate the functions of the Directorate, as well as a new development cycle in 2018.
