Inauguration Ceremony of Aleksandar Vučić as the President of the Republic of Serbia
Inauguration Ceremony hosted by Mr. Aleksandar Vučić on the occasion of assuming the duty of the President of the Republic of Serbia was held at the Palace in Belgrade, tonight, attended by a large number of foreign officials, heads of state and governments from the region, Europe and the world, as well as the top state and military leadership of our country, representatives of the diplomatic corps, religious communities and cultural and public life.
Welcoming the friends from abroad and citizens of Serbia, President Vučić pointed out that Serbia is "a country of good, brave, sometimes overly brave people", saying that people are exactly what is most important in Serbia.- Serbia, in which you were welcomed with open arms and open hearts, does not dream any more about enemies, but creates, in reality, friendships, and we, who were raised in wars, wish one thing more than anything - peace", President Vučić said.
According to him, that is why Serbia does not have any task that is more important than that to share with its neighbours that conviction, that belief, that none of us can feel well, if someone else feels bad.- Therefore, I wish to say to all of our neighbours in the Western Balkans, from which, for a reason which is unknown to me, we are all trying to escape, very often being ashamed of ourselves and the others, that Serbia will try to build bridges of friendship with you and new power of both Europe and the world - President Vučić pointed out.
Although we have regulated public finances in Serbia and we have a surplus in the budget, the President of the Republic pointed out that the poor in our country are still poor and that it is necessary to work more so that ordinary people could be much more satisfied.- But we cannot make so much progress, nor can we make any progress if we do not provide peace and stability. These are the magic and most important words for all of us - President Vučić said.
He also warned us that we lean on one another, so that if anyone loses ground under their feet, we will all fall, and according to him, this chasm, to which this fall would take us, has no end.
President Vučić also said that we do not want chasms in our relations with the great powers because it is our decision to be on the European path and we wish to belong to the society of organised countries, to build good relations with the Western world after decades of problems.- That is because, and this is another thing I need to tell you about us, we are the country, and the people, for which, for some time, time has been stopped. We have never, and nowhere, been late. We will not be late even in the future - President Vučić concluded.
Aleksandar Vučić took over the duties of the President of Serbia with the ceremonial swearing-in at the Assembly House on 31st May, on the Serbian Constitution and the Miroslav's Gospel.
