Observing the Day of the MMA Medical Faculty



Today, the Day of the MMA Medical Faculty was marked at the Military Medical Academy. The event was attended by the Acting Head of Military Health Department, Colonel Dr Uglјeša Jovičić, and Vice-Deans of the University of Defence, Head of the Military Academy, academicians, professors and cadets.
 
Addressing the present the Acting Head of the MMA, Colonel Miroslav Vukosavlјević Prof Dr said that it was not by accident that the Day of the Medical Faculty is marked almost concurrently with the Day of the MMA, since these two institutions are basically inseparable. Speaking about the importance of that Faculty for the future of the military health, he reminded that the second class of the medical second lieutenants was promoted last year, who were becoming or had become young doctors.
 
- Being a doctor is not easy. Medical profession requires continuous theoretic and practical advancement of knowledge and skills. And that is precisely what made our school distinguishable both in the region and beyond. This gives us reason to be proud of you because each class proves by its extraordinary academic results that we have truly selected the best out of the best, and that we should not worry about the future of military health in our country. I am certain that this will remain the same in the future as well – underlined Colonel Dr Vukosavlјević and added that the MMA Medical Faculty changed and enhanced which was proved by the accreditation of Higher vocational school for nurses that would enrol ten nurses from the defence system and ten self-financing students this year.
The Dean of the Medical Faculty, Col. Prof. Dr. Nebojša Jović reminded that currently there are 157 cadets at integrated studies of medicine, 25 students at academic specialist studies, 37 at doctoral studies, and 216 on medical specializations. Among them 115 are professional military personnel from the defence system, 78 from civilian institutions and 24 from abroad.

 According to his words, 38 scientific projects are currently being conducted in the MMA Medical Faculty, and in the previous year, his colleagues published 83 scientific works in prestigious medical journals.
 
He pointed out that the Budgetary Fund of the University of Defence became operational to be used for financing the fees for professors and associates of the MMA Medical Faculty as well as for funding scientific and research projects.
 
At the event, graduates of specialized academic studies and MMA residents received diplomas, after which followed the presentation of the best papers of MMA residents and cadets published in professional journals that were also presented at scientific gatherings in the previous year.
