Dress rehearsal for the Commissioning Ceremony for the youngest officers of the Serbian Armed Forces



At the plateau in front of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, tonight, a dress rehearsal for tomorrow's commissioning ceremony for the youngest Serbian Armed Forces officers was held. The last test parade of the graduates of the Military Academy was attended by Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic.
 
A total of 158 male and female cadets of the 137th class of the Military Academy and 29 of the 2nd class of the MMA Faculty of Medicine put on their cadet uniforms for the last time tonight parading on the sounds of the Guard’s Representative Orchestra on the plateau from which traditional lieutenant colonel caps will fly up tomorrow. This year, one cadet from Angola is to be promoted to the rank of second lieutenant.
 
This will be for the eleventh time that the commissioning ceremony is organized in front of the National Assembly. Traditionally, the President of the Republic of Serbia will present sabres, symbols of officer's honour, to the best cadets of the Military Academy, while the defence minister will present parade daggers to the best cadets of the MMA Faculty of Medicine and Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces will present pistols with inscriptions to the most successful cadets from the service branches of Army and the Air Force and Air Defence.
 
Festive line-up of young officers and cadets of the Military Academy will be flown over by military aircraft, and the ceremony will be completed by performances of Representative Orchestra of the Guard and the Stanislav Binicki Artistic Ensemble of the Ministry of Defence.
 
Promotion of the youngest second lieutenants starts tomorrow, on 10th September, at 11 am and will be attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic, Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic, state and military leadership, as well as numerous guests from the country and abroad.
