Interational Scientific Conference on Emergency Situations
State Secretary Zoran Jeftic and the Chief of the OSCE mission Hans Ola Urstad opened the international scientific conference “Emergency Situations”. This two day conference is organized by the Institute for Strategic Research with the support of the Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Norway.On behalf of the host, the present guests were greeted by the Director of the Institute LTG Milan Zaric, MSc.
In his openimg speech, Secretary Jeftic said that this topic was of interest not only for Serbia but for the whole world as well.
„In the last few months our system has been undergoing a process of finding complex institutional solutions as a response to emergency situations, which will be achieved in due time.
This is why the experiences of the countries in the region and of experts from EU are so important to us to make such important and final decisions with respect. We expect from this scientific conference the conclusions we can use for the further development of this system”, said State Secretary Jeftic.
The Head of the OSCE mission, Hans Ola Urstad said that the nature of emergency situations was such that these situations could not be forseen and that this is why it is so important for all countries to be prepared in order to reduce potentially detrimental consequences and the material damages caused by the catastrophes.The conference was also attended by the representatives of 7 EU countries, and the experts from different areas. The purpose of this conference was to share experieces and scientific achievements in the emergency management area. Special accent will be placed on the role of MoD and SAF in emergency situations and the army.
