Minister Sutanovac visited Iraq
The defense system of Serbia could respond to all these challenges in order to forge a long standing cooperation with Iraq. According to Sutanovac, the Iraqis were interested in air defense training and by buying the Serbian plane Lasta they are becoming Serbia’s long-term buyers.
The Serbian defense minister also commuted that he had discussed with his Iraqi colleagues about the return of our construction companies to Iraq.
On behalf of the President of Serbia Boris Tadic and the Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetkovic, Defense Minister officially invited the Iraqi Prime Minister to visit Serbia.
Sutanovac thanked Prime Minister Malik for his principled stance regarding their non-acceptance of Kosovo’s self proclaimed independence.
Minister also invited the Minister of Interior of Iraq to visit Serbia and to discuss with Ivica Dacic, Serbian Minister of the Interior, about the possibilities of extending cooperation as Iraq is just in the process of developing its police force.
“I am sure that your police academy could provide the necessary training in Serbia”, said Sutanovac.
This visit had a lot of media coverage in Iraq, as both ministers held a joint pres conference.
