Serbian Defence Attaché in Germany decorated

German Defence Minister Ursula von der Leyen decorated Lieutenant Colonel Aleksandar Cera, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Serbia in that country, with Silver Cross of Honour of the Bundeswehr. This is for the first time that the Ministry of Defence of the Federal Republic of Germany awarded a medal this level to a foreign Defence Attaché.

Lieutenant Colonel Cera was presented the decoration, on behalf of the Minister of Defence, by Rear Admiral Hans-Christian Luther, Deputy Head of the German MOD’s Strategy and Operations Division.

"As an excellent ambassador of his own country, whose behaviour and the work serves as an example, Lieutenant Colonel Cera contributed in a special way to the deepening of the German - Serbian friendship. His extraordinary commitment significantly contributed for Germany to understand more easily what approach should it take in its politico-military attitude towards Serbia", the German Defence Minister pointed out in her letter on the occasion of the decoration awarding.

The decoration awarding ceremony in the German Ministry of Defence was also attended by Brigadier General Jürgen Bretz, Chief of Military Intelligence Administration, Dusan Crnogorcevic, Serbian Ambassador to Germany, and Colonel Dejan Cimbaljevic, newly appointed Defence Attaché of Serbia to Germany.

Lieutenant Colonel Cera was awarded at the proposal of the members of the Federal Parliament who are members of the Defence Committee. He served as the Serbian Defence Attaché in Germany since July 2012.
