Military Veterinary Service involved in Combating Infectious Disease of Cattle





The Ministry of Defence has formed a Coordination Team of the Military Health Department and the Operations Team of the veterinary service to monitor and take measures to prevent the spread of nodular dermatitis, infectious disease of cattle known as lumpy skin disease (LSD).

The teams were formed following the requirements of the Operational Staff for coordinating the implementation of measures for prevention, control and eradication of nodular dermatitis and are actively working on the exchange of data, assessment of the situation and the coordination of joint activities with the Veterinary Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.

Officers of the military veterinary service, 20 of them for the time being, in cooperation with members of the Ministry of Interior and civilian veterinary inspectors, will control the movement of animals in the field. If necessary, disinsection and disinfection, examination of animals, vaccination and similar measures will be included.
