A professional soldier of the Serbian Armed Forces, Corporal Milos Rakic, died at the Military Medical Academy in Belgrade from injuries sustained on 1 June.

During the execution of works within the military facility in the village of Bogovadja, due to falling of a part of the tree that was cut, Rakic suffered head and chest injuries. Corporal Rakic received first aid on site before he was transferred to the Health Centre Valjevo, and on the same day, June 1, in the afternoon, to the MMA for further care.

Despite the several-day fight of doctors for his life, Rakic unfortunately succumbed to the injuries.

Corporal Miloš (Savo) Rakic was born on 30 August 1972 in Valjevo. He served the professional military service since 1992. He served as a guardsman in the Division for safeguarding the 103rd ordnance depot of the First Depot Battalion of the Central Logistics Base. He was not married.

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic and Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic sent their condolences to the family of the perished.
