An interview with Major General Ljubomir Samardzic, the Chief of the Logistics Department who stresses that the functionality of combat mechanics had been improved by 20 to 30 %, especially when it comes to combat vehicles, air crafts, radar and rocket systems. For example, we have acquired 65 new traveling vehicles, 31 terrain vehicles, 22 delivery vehicles and six devices for integral transport. 16000 military motor vehicles had been reregistered, while the purchase of 31000 tons of fuel had enabled regular consumption.

The B92 reporter Sandra Mandic is an award winner of Ivan Markovic award which is awarded by the Odbrana magazine on occasion of 24 January-the Day of this institution. on this occasion, for 15th time in a row the most successful athletes in SAF had been selected. The most successful athlete is Lieutenant Sasa Petrovic, state champion and recorder in shooting from a military gun, while the best team was proclaimed to be “Nebeske vidre”. Special award was presented to Major General Vidosav Kovacevic for his exceptional contribution to the development and promotion of the military sports and to Warrant Officer Goran Todorovic who set a new Guinness record.

On occasion of 130 years of military press in Serbia the editors-in-chief of the military papers “Narodna armija”, “Front” and “Vojska”, reminisce of the times when their first texts were issued and when they were just starting to master their skill. They speak of the era when the military journalism was a topic closely followed by the public, and the challenges, risks, defeats ad victories of these times.

The army units were on a camping session at Pasuljanske livade training ground, in rough and unfavorable weather conditions the training in fire arms shooting and tactics was successfully conducted.

In the Center for Dog-Breeding and Training in Nis, the realization of planned projects will enable the establishment of a modern institution within SAF which will cater to SAF’s need and requirements in watch dogs.

In December 2003, conscripts had been given a chance for the first time to do their service in the civil sector and in the first five years we have had enormous experience. Conscripts can serve the army under arms or in the civil sector in the institutions of vital interest.
