Minister of Defence meets the Ambassador of the Russian Federation

Defence Minister Zoran Djordjevic met with the Ambassador of the Russian Federation Alexander Chepurin.

In an open discussion the minister expressed satisfaction with the improvement of general and political cooperation as well as gratitude to the Russian side for the principled support of the foreign policy priorities of the Republic of Serbia.

It was particularly emphasized that we will continue to lead independent and sovereign foreign policy, with concurrent cooperation with all our partners, based on mutual respect and appreciation.

Minister Djordjevic said that we are firmly implementing the declared policy of military neutrality, whereby our participation in the Partnership for Peace Programme does not pose an aspiration for NATO membership.

Djordjevic and Chepurin analysed the results of the existing bilateral defence cooperation and concluded intensifying of military-to-military and military-economic cooperation, with the belief that this trend will be maintained in the forthcoming period.
