Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic buried



Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic, son of Prince Pavle Karadjordjevic and Princess Olga, was buried today in the Saint George Church yard in Oplenac.

The remains of Prince Aleksandar were transferred to Belgrade on 18 May, and in the last two days the citizens were paying last respects to the deceased prince in a mausoleum at Oplenac.

The Prince was buried in the family mausoleum where the rest of 25 members of the Karadjordjevic family had been buried.

Liturgy in the church of St. George and the funeral were also attended by the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, on behalf of the Government and Prime Minister Vladimir Bozovic, advisor to the Prime Minister and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic.

The funeral was attended by members of the Karadjordjevic family, representatives of the diplomatic corps and citizens.

Prince Aleksandar Karadjordjevic died on 12 May in Paris at the age of 92.
