Marking 99 years since the death of Field Marshal Putnik



On the occasion of 99 years since the death of Field Marshal Radomir Putnik,amember of the City Council Marko Zeljuglaid today a wreathat the grave of the Serbian military leader.

"Today,it is 99 years since our Great Field Marshal Radomir Putnik passed away, unfortunately far away from his country for which he fought. During his career, he was defence ministerfive times, Chief of Staff twice and, during the First World War, the Chief of the Supreme Command. I am very glad that I had the honour,as a representative of the city of Belgrade to pay my respect to the man who fought during his entire career for the preservation of the freedom of the Serbian state", Zeljugsaid, as conveyed by the city Public Information Service.

Wreaths were laid by the delegation of the SerbianArmedForces, Assistant Minister ofLabour, Employment, Social and Veterans 'Affairs Milan Popovic and citizens' associations cherishing the memory of the tradition of liberation wars in Serbia, released the statement.
