The Guard of the Serbian Armed Forces opens "Days of Belgrade"




By a three-volley gun salute from five artillery pieces, on the Sava terrace at Kalemegdan, the Serbian Armed Forces Guard, marked the beginning of the "Days of Belgrade", which ha been organized in the Serbian capital since 2003. Belgraders and their friends have enjoyed this morning in the promenade concert of the Guard Orchestra, rejoicing early birds in Knez Mihailova Street with the programme of most famous instrumentals.

By the honorary artillery fire and the promenade concert in the most popular street of Belgrade, the Serbian Armed Forces Guard gave its contribution to the three-day event "Days of Belgrade", conceived to mark important historical events that took place in Belgrade on 16April 878 (when name of Belgrade was first mentioned) and 19 April 1867 (when Prince Mihailo Obrenovic received the keys of the city from the Turks).

This year, during the three-day "tourist holidays of Belgrade", more than 40 events have been organized, which will certainly attract the attention of Belgraders and their guests from Serbia and the region. In addition to the ceremonial meeting of the City Assembly, various events will be organised in the busiest parts of the city, in Knez Mihailova Street, Kalemegdan, the Flower Market, the Old Palace and the Slavija Square, where the inhabitants of the “white city”, will present themselves, as always, in the right light, as good and agile hosts.
