Heliport at MMA receives lighting

The Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces have received today a part of the lightning at the heliport at the Military Medical Academy, which has enabled the work of the landing at night time as well. Setting up complete installations and lighting will be completed in the next few days.

According to the Acting Chief of the Military Medical Academy Colonel Prof. Dr Zoran Segrt, the significance of this project is great because it is a heliport, which is also used for the needs of the Military Medical Academy, and often in a short period of time it is required to transport heavy patients in different weather conditions, including night time.

- This is certainly a big step forward that will contribute to the quality and speed of response when necessary. I would like to thank the donor whose funds enabled the realization of this project – Colonel Segrt said.

Representative of the Elgra Vision Company, which donated the necessary infrastructure, Miroslav Knezevic said that the works will be finished by Monday.

- We donated the lighting system at the heliport at MMA and set new cables and complete infrastructure for the lamps to function. They will be set up as soon as possible by Monday, which is when we expect for the system to be activated. After that, at landing number two, we will do a reconstruction, i.e. replace the lamps with lamps that are in compliance with aviation regulations, Knezevic explained.

Support Assistant of Commander of the 204th Air Brigade Lt. Col. Slavisa Pavlovic confirmed that the lighting on the heliport is of great importance for the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces.

- After many years, in this capacity, we are bringing back the landing number one into use so it can be used for landing at night - Lieutenant Colonel Pavlovic said.

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic visited today the works on the heliport and the lighting project, which he had previously initiated and for which he had found donors, accompanied by State Secretary in the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic.
