Congratulations by the Minister of Defence on the occasion of the Day of Air Force and Air Defence



I congratulate all the members of the Air Force and Air Defence on 24th December – the Day of the Branch.

On that day in 1912, based on the decision of the Serbian Military Ministry and the General Staff, Field Marshall Radomir Putnik made a decision on the formation of the Air Force Command based in Nis. In the period between the two holidays, using a wealth of experience and knowledge you have put maximum effort in carrying out your specific tasks, continuing a tradition more than a century long, when Serbia was among the fifteen countries in the world that had the Air Force being among the top five countries in the world.

Units of the Air Force and Air Defence have achieved tangible results in professional training and qualifying and greatly contributed to the development of overall operational capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces. The upcoming obligations and the scheduled tasks pose before the members of the Air Force and Air Defence new and complex requirements. The greatest value of this branch of the Serbian Armed Forces is people and their skills.

I am sure that the efforts that are being invested in the modernization of the Serbian Air Force, in which you have the full support of the Ministry of Defence and the state, will pay off and contribute to more successful and better execution of the set tasks, I congratulate you on your holiday.
