Exhibition of the Art section "Mihailo Milovanovic"

Today, in the Small Gallery of the Central Military Club, an exhibition of the Art Club of the Association of Descendants of Serbian Warriors 1912-1920 "Mihajlo Milovanovic" has been organized by the Association within the ceremony of marking the centenary of the liberation of Belgrade in the Great War. It is the eighth exhibition organized by the Association, whose theme this year is "The First World War in the eyes of artists".

Opening the exhibition, President of the Association, Colonel Ljubomir Markovic, recalled the glorious history of the Serbian people, noting that this is where we should draw strength and wisdom from. He expressed satisfaction that the Art Club gathers an increasing number of members from year to year, many of whom are professionals.

An art historian and a painter Branka Gostovic pointed out that the jury did not have an easy task because there were plenty of brilliant works from all over Serbia.

Among many works that arrived, the jury awarded first prize to Jevrosima Lukic, the second to Gordana Popovic, while the third prize was won by Marko Miladinovic. The jury also agreed that the special awards should go to the hands of academic sculptors Mitar Petkovic and Ljubisa Mancic, as well as a numismatist Jugoslava Miletic.

This year, the Association presented the Commemorative Plaque on the occasion of the centenary of the First World War to Odbrana Media Centre for the long-term successful cooperation and generous support in their work. On behalf of the house, the recognition was received by Lieutenant Colonel Biljana Pasic.

The unique exhibition was the contribution of the members of the Association and Art Club to the celebration of the centenary of the First World War. Famous field marshals, warriors, heroes, ordinary soldiers and glorious battles of the Serbian Army in the Great War were dominant motifs on the canvases.
