A number of 82 new apartments for the members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces



Today, at the Great War Hall of the Old General Staff building, active and retired members of the Defence Ministry and the Serbian Armed Forces were handed over the keys for 82 apartments at Bezanijska Kosa, and Stepa Stepanovic residence areas in Belgrade, Obrenovac, Novi Sad and Nis region.

The keys were given to 33 members of active military personnel and civilians and 49 retired members of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces, which continued good practice of housing of the members of the defence system.

During 2016, the Ministry of Defence will continue to cooperate with local governments throughout Serbia with the aim of solving the housing problem of as larger number of members of the defence system as possible.

On 6th November, the Republic Directorate for Property announced the alienation of immovable property which is not necessary for the functioning of the Serbian Armed Forces. These are 23 military compounds in several cities of Serbia: in Aleksinac, Novi Sad, Belgrade, Vrsac, Valjevo, Pancevo, Gornji Milanovac, Sombor and Zrenjanin, and according to estimates of the Tax Administration, the value of these facilities is more than eight million euros. By their alienation, the Ministry of Defence will collect significant funds and a number of flats for its members in the forthcoming period.
