Visit by the Adjutant General of the Ohio National Guard



Chief of Serbian Armed Forces General Staff Ljubisa Dikovic met today with the Ohio National Guard Adjutant General Major General Mark Bartman in Belgrade.

After the talks at the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces, General Dikovic reminded that the jubilee tenth anniversary of the successful cooperation with the Ohio National Guard is approaching, and it is measurable, visible and useful.

- So far we have realized a large number of activities with the Ohio National Guard, among which the most important are those related to development of the capacity of the "South" base for education and training of both units of our army and the members of the armed forces of other countries for participation in multinational operations – General Dikovic pointed out.

According to him, the members of the Ohio National Guard has participated in several joint exercises, bilateral and trilateral, and it is intended that in the future members of our armed forces are trained through joint exercises together with the countries in the region, in particular with Hungary and Romania.

- I would also like to point out several projects of humanitarian assistance organized by the members of the Ohio National Guard with members of the Serbian Armed Forces in the past –General Dikovic said adding that these actions were observed and left a very good impression of mutual trust and cooperation.

Speaking about the topics of today's talks, the Chief of General Staff stressed that the discussion was about the further development of cooperation in the field of training, education, aviation and aviation medicine, religious services, and the development of the NCO corps.

General Bartman, who is leading the delegation of the Ohio National Guard in a several-day visit to our country, also expressed his satisfaction because of a decade of a successful cooperation with the Serbian Armed Forces. He recalled that only during the year behind us there were 17 activities of military-to-military cooperation with the Serbian Armed Forces, and for the next year 24 activities were planned, particularly emphasizing satisfaction with this growing trend of in the number of joint activities.

When it comes to cooperation, general Bartman, stressed the importance of joint military exercises, both with the Serbian Armed Forces and the armed forces of the countries in the region.

During their stay in Serbia, the delegation of the Ohio National Guard will visit the 204th Aviation Brigade, Military Medical Academy, Museum of Aviation and Military Museum. Today, the guests from Ohio will visit Obrenovac, where they will meet with the President of that municipality and visit some of the sites that were flooded last year.
