Exhibition "Serbian heroes from 1914 to 1999" opened
Opening the exhibition, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic said that the employees of the Military Museum started a project planned for years - making the setting in which there would be a picture of each deceased Serbian soldier in the period 1914-1999, pointing out that the Military Museum was the right place for preserving the memory of all those who had given their lives for our country.
- One of my most important missions is that we have in every barrack in Serbia a memorial room in memory of our friends, friends, relatives, brothers and sisters, and likewise, to have in our museum a wall with pictures of all the killed Serbian soldiers in the past hundred years - Minister said, reminding that our soldiers who had put their lives on the bumper of the fatherland had not only left us the land but also the children and their future.
Chief of the Military Museum Colonel Dragan Radenkovic emphasized that the exhibition includes about 90 photographs that should familiarize observers with the heroes of liberation and defensive wars. He explained that the setting was conceived chronologically into four thematic sections - World War I, World War II, wars in the nineties in former Yugoslavia and NATO aggression in 1999, showing some of the most important moments of Serbian history in the 20th century.
In addition to the significant documentary photographs, visitors have the opportunity to see the original pieces of arms, flags and medals that Serbian units and individuals received in the previous 100 years.
The team of authors of the exhibition are the military curators of the Military Museum Natasa Tomic and Vuk Obradovic and photographer military officer Duska Stefanovic from Odbrana Media Centre.
The opening of the exhibition was also attended by Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic with associates, acting Assistant Minister for Human Resources Milos Jankovic, State Secretaries Zoran Djordjevic and Nenad Neric, and many veterans.
