Meeting of State Secretary Djordjevic and Deputy US Ambassador
State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic met today with Deputy US Ambassador in Belgrade Gordon Duguid. During the meeting they discussed the current political and security situation on the global and regional level, as well as issues related to bilateral military cooperation and joint efforts leading to improvement of overall bilateral military relations. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the implementation of joint exercises and training of SAF members with representatives of the US Armed Forces, which contribute to improving the operational and functional capabilities of the Serbian Armed Forces.They also analysed present cooperation in the framework of the programmes of security assistance and donation from the US to the Republic of Serbia, those that have been implemented and those that are in the pipeline. In this field, they particularly emphasized the importance of project of development of the base "South", as well as the current project of development of capabilities of the General Support Engineering Company of the Serbian Armed Forces, which Serbia has nominated at the Summit of the United Nations for deployment in multinational operations.
