Demonstration exercise "Autumn 2015" held

Demonstration exercise "Autumn 2015", whose theme was the deployment of a mobile medical team in conditions of natural disasters - earthquakes in Serbia, was held today at Military Medical Academy and in the "Banjica" barracks.

The exercise included senior staff of the Training Centre of the Health Service, attendants of the 8th class of reserve officers of the medical service at the voluntary military service, cadets of the MMA Faculty of Medicine of the University of Defence in the role markers, teachers of organizational parts that teach at the demonstration exercise, elders and chiefs of the MMA and chiefs of organization parts of the institution. The exercise was also attended by representatives of the Ministry of National Defence of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria.

Commander of the exercise Lt. Col. Dragan Djordjevic said the exercise aims for the audience of the 8th class of reserve officers of the medical service to apply their theoretical knowledge and skills acquired in the treatment of the wounded and sick, as well as for executives of the exercise "Autumn 2015" to practice command and control over the mobile medical team in conditions of natural disaster.

The participants of the final exercise during the past seven days practiced providing healthcare support to the injured and ill, developing medical stages in tactical units and organizing the treatment of the injured and ill in emergencies such as an earthquake.

The practical part took place at six working points: leaking of toxic substances from chemical plants - sanitation of the consequences and taking care of the contaminated and monitoring mobile toxicological team, then the work of mixed preventive medical teams in the area affected by earthquake was presented, followed by the work of the mixed psychological-psychiatric teams, mobile surgical teams in taking care of the injured, and the last point was the medical takeover and evacuation by air.

Summing up the impressions Colonel prof. Dragan Dincic, Deputy Chief of the MMA, said that the exercise was useful for young for whom this should be the starting point in further activities.
