Agreement on takeover of the Military Club in Subotica signed



Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic attended today in Subotica City Hall the signing of the agreement on the handover of the Serbian Military Club in that city. The agreement on the transfer of property rights from the Republic of Serbia to Subotica was signed by Mayor of the City of Jene Maglai and Director of the Directorate for the Property of the Republic of Serbia Jovan Vorkapic.

Addressing the attendees, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic expressed satisfaction that objects of the Serbian Armed Forces, which had been unused for years, are starting to become the property of local governments so they can plan investments.
- Although we announced that this handover would done in December, we hurried, because the Serbian Armed Forces and the Republic Directorate for Property are becoming faster in decision-making - Minister Gasic said and thanked and congratulated the City of Subotica, which in this way resolved capital projects.

Mayor Jene Maglai stressed that this was a great day for Subotica, which in this way “encircles” the matters related to the purchase of military property.
- This is a historical property which is essential for the future of the city and it is very important that it becomes the property of the citizens of Subotica – Mayor of the city said and thanked Minister Gasic for the help and Vorkapic for excellent accuracy, and to Adviser to Serbian Prime Minister Gojko Radic, who helped implement this project. Maglai said that what now remains is for the facility to be put to use, renovated and preserved, and he announced that the building would be used for cultural purposes.

Director of the Directorate for Property of the Republic of Serbia Jovan Vorkapic, congratulating the Serbian Armed Forces and the city, said
 that the signing of the contract rounded the sales of facilities of the Serbian Armed Forces in the northern town of Backa, "with which the local government leaders showed responsibility towards its citizens, because they have acquired a building in the town centre important for them."

The Serbian Military Club, from the Master Plan of disposal of real estate that are not necessary for the functioning of the Serbian Armed Forces, according to the contract signed today, is alienated in favour of the City of Subotica on the basis of the Resolution of the Government of the Republic of Serbia from 23 October 2015 for 3,113,582.67 euros, which, as Minister Gasic pointed out, the City will pay over the next five years.

The military complex "Boris Kidric and Vuk Karadzic Street", previously intended as the Serbian Military Club in Subotica lies on the land of 8.45 acres, in the city centre, with one high-rise facility of 5.070,2 square meters.

The signing of the agreement in the Subotica City Hall was also attended by Adviser to the Prime Minister Gojko Radic, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the local government.
