A visit from the Minister of Defence of Belarus

Today, Defence Ministers of Serbia and Belarus Bratislav Gasic and Lieutenant General Andrei Alekseyevich Ravkov signed a Memorandum of Understanding in military scientific field and the field of military education. This document will enable the exchange of persons in education and training at all levels in Serbia and Belarus and to create conditions for the development of relations in the fields of research and development.

During the official talks between the two delegations, Ministers Gasic and Ravkov emphasized the importance of the traditionally good and friendly relations between the two countries. They concluded that cooperation in the field of defence has been essentially improved after last year's adoption of the strategic directions of bilateral military cooperation.

Minister Gasic emphasized that foreign policy orientation of Serbia towards the European Union does not affect the development of relations with the Republic of Belarus and other countries that wish to cooperate on the principles of mutual respect and appreciation. He thanked for the principled support of Belarus for the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Serbia, as well as during the voting at the General Conference of UNESCO on the admission of so-called Kosovo into that organization.
