Talks of Chiefs of General Staff of Serbia and Slovakia
Chief of General Staff General Ljubisa Dikovic met in Bratislava today with Chief of General Staff of the Armed Forces of Slovakia General Milan Maxim. The generals discussed the current political and security situation in the Central European region, the situation in the Middle East and in Syria, the experience of the Armed Forces of Slovakia in the European integration process, engagement in EU battlegroups and multinational operations, as well as the possibilities for further improvement of bilateral military cooperation.
Generals Dikovic and Maxim agreed that the joint deployment of members of the two Armed Forces in the UN mission in Cyprus, which began in 2011, is the best indicator of good military cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia.
General Dikovic expressed confidence that otherwise good military cooperation between Serbia and Slovakia can be further improved and strengthened, through working together on concrete and practical activities such as training teams for the removal of unexploded ordnance and training in the field of CBRN.
General Dikovic was also received by State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence of Slovakia Milos Koterec. The delegation of the Serbian Armed Forces headed by General Dikovic visited the Centre for the removal of improvised explosive devices in Trencin, which has the status of NATO Centre of Excellence.
During his visit to Slovakia, general Dikovic laid a wreath at the Serbian Cemetery Veľký Meder, which after Zeitenlik is the second largest Serbian cemetery from the First World War outside the fatherland.
