Chief of General Staff at the meeting of the EU Military Committee



Chief of the General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic attended the meeting of the Military Committee of the European Union held in Brussels today.

The meeting discussed the current security and defence issues, hybrid warfare, training missions and advisory missions of the EU, as well as maritime and operations under the common security and defence policy of the EU. In the framework of training missions and advisory missions of the EU, there was a discussion at the strategic level with the chiefs of staff of partner countries, including, in addition to Serbia, Montenegro, Moldova, Norway and Georgia.

During his stay in Brussels, Chief of the General Staff held bilateral meetings with Chiefs of the Spanish and Greek General Staff Admirals Fernando Garcia Sanchez and Evangelos Apostolakis, Chairman of the EU Military Committee Greek General Mikhail Kostarakos, as well as with the Chairman of the Military Committee of NATO Czech General Petr Pavel, during which they discussed issues of importance to military cooperation.

Chief of Staff informed General Kostarakos and Admiral Apostolakis about the intention of the Republic of Serbia to engage in the EU HELBROC Battlegroup, headed by Greece, and involving Bulgaria, Romania and Cyprus.

General Dikovic and Admiral Sanchez discussed joint deployment of the Serbian and Spanish Armed Forces in the UN mission in Lebanon, the experiences of Spain from the engagement in the EU battlegroups and the continuation of joint training of members of the two armed forces.

With Admiral Kostarakos and General Pavel, General Dikovic discussed current security issues, primarily the challenge of the migrations.
