Meeting of the Conference of National Armaments Directors held



Meeting of the Conference of National Armaments Directors, in the format of the Interoperability Platforms, was held today in Brussels and Serbia was represented by State Secretary of Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic.

The meeting, attended by representatives of 47 countries, was chaired by Assistant Secretary General of NATO for Defence Investment Patrick Auroy. During the meeting, they reviewed the work of the Conference of National Armaments Directors in 2015 and showed the progress of the projects launched under the initiative of the “Smart Defence”, presented possibilities of cooperation in science and technology, and the importance of standardization in the process of achieving interoperability between NATO member states and partner countries. Special attention was given to the opportunities and advantages offered by the multinational cooperation in the process of capacity building.

Guests were also addressed by Executive Director of the European Defence Agency Jorge Domecq, who expressed the importance of improving cooperation between NATO and the European Defence Agency in the fields of research and development, joint capacity building and cooperation with the industry.

On the sidelines of the meeting, Secretary of State Djordjevic spoke with the national directors of NATO member states and partners about the modern trends of development and production of arms and military equipment, and the challenges the process faces.

The Conference of National Armaments Directors is responsible for the coordination of joint activities within NATO relating to research, development and production of arms and military equipment and it is open for cooperation with partner countries in accordance with their needs and abilities.
