Military Disciplinary Court rendered the first instance verdict in the case of the helicopter crash
Military Disciplinary Court in Belgrade rendered the final verdict in the trial against the accused Major General RankoZivak, Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence, and Brigadier General PredragBandic, Commander of the 204th Air Brigade, in the case of an emergency event in the Serbian Armed Forces - the helicopter crash on 13 March 2015.
Major General RankoZivak was found guilty of disciplinary offense of failure to act to which the person in the serviceis authorized for the prevention of irregularities or damage. Brigadier General PredragBandicwas found guiltyfor the same offense, as well as for exceeding official powers.
Untried generals received a disciplinary punishment of banned advancement to a higher rank or advancement to a higher position, General Zivak for a period of one year, and General Bandic for a period of two years.
The verdict was announced on 16 October 2015, and the defendants, defence counsels and the prosecutor shall have a period of eight days to file an appeal to the Higher Military Disciplinary Court. The main trial was closed to the public and the communication of the judgment was public.
