PELT seminar for English teachers
In accordance with planned activities of the PELT Programme (the Programme for training and testing personnel of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in the field of English language according to STANAG 6001 standard), today ends a several-day international seminar on the topic "Learning English by using information technology." The seminar was jointly organized by the PELT Department for Human Resources the of Human Resources Sector of the Ministry of Defence and the British Council in Belgrade with allocated funds of donor countries of the PELT Programme (the Kingdom of Norway, the Great Britain, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden, and the United States).
The seminar was attended by English teachers, heads of centres for independent learning of English (CELT-SAC) from the garrison of the Serbian Armed Forces (Belgrade, Pancevo and Novi Sad) and the Military Academy, the teachers from the Department of Foreign Languages of the Military Academy, the Head and the teachers from the Group of the English Language of the Department for Training and Doctrine of the General Staff (J-7), two English language instructors from the Army of Bosnia and Herzegovina and two English teachers from the Training Centre of the Armed Forces of Montenegro. The aim of the seminar was methodical and professional preparation of teachers of English in the adoption of new methods of designing courses by using information technology and smartphones (Teaching with Technology) and distance learning for more efficient implementation of semi-intensive and intensive English courses that are part of the training cycle of members of the Serbian Armed Forces for testing according to STANAG 6001 standard.
On the basis of cooperation on the PELT Programme, lectures at the seminar was organized and implemented by the British Council in Belgrade with Professor Claire Whitaker from the UK, an expert in the field of training and testing of English knowledge for members of the armed forces and a qualified PEP (Peacekeeping English Project) manager of the British Council.
