SEDM meeting held in Dubrovnik



sedm dubrovnikIn the framework of the Comprehensive Regional Ministerial Meeting, which was held yesterday and today in Dubrovnik, State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic participated today in the meeting of the Process of Meetings of Southeast Europe Defence Ministers (SEDM).

Secretary of State Djordjevic said that Serbia remains committed to improving cooperation with key international organizations in the field of defence and security, as well as an active contribution in the framework of regional forums in Southeast Europe.

"The Republic of Serbia is fully committed to peace and security in the world, as well as building a modern society based on the founding principles of the United Nations," said Djordjevic. He informed the participants in the meeting that Serbia is actively committed to the respect of international norms regarding the preservation of territorial integrity and sovereignty of all member states of the United Nations. Activities of the Government of the Republic of Serbia have so far indicated absolute consistency in adhering to key foreign policy priorities and meeting Serbia’s actual efforts for a faster integration into the European Union, the strengthening of regional ties and cooperation, as well as the implementation of comprehensive internal reforms.

sedmDuring the meetings, they conveyed national views on the future of SEDM, with dominating declarations of commitment to further advancement of regional security cooperation. They emphasized the need for joint action in solving the current challenges and threats faced by all countries in Southeast Europe.

Participants of the meeting were informed about the implemented activities and tasks of the Coordination Committee and the Political-Military Monitoring Committee of this organization since the last Ministerial Meeting held in October 2014 in Montenegro. They presented the activities of the Brigade for the preservation of peace in Southeast Europe (SEEBRIG) in the past year, and the ministers and delegates also approved the planned budget of the Command, as well as the Plan of trainings and exercises for 2016. The national representatives also officially approved the initiation of the SEDM Standing Portal.
