Visit to the CBRN Centre in Krusevac

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and US Defence Attaché Colonel Taft Blackburn visited the SAF CBRN Centre today in Krusevac Car Lazar barracks.

Commander of this force Lt. Col. Ivan Lazarevic presented their scope of work and informed them about the plans of the CBRN Centre, as a regional and partnership centre for education and training, and showed them a part of the infrastructure and the facilities for training at the military complex Ravnjak.

Expressing satisfaction that, as he pointed out, the Serbian Armed Forces train US soldiers, Defence Minister recalled significant results achieved in the previous two years in Krusevac centre.

- We have raised the capacities for training and equipped a large training centre in Ravnjak, and today I talked with the Colonel about the expansion of cooperation and planning of future joint activities in order for the CBRN Centre to also become a training base and so it could receive a larger number of soldiers from other countries in training – Minister said and added that during the talks, they also discussed other joint activities including the completion of the works in the South base.

Colonel Blackburn expressed his satisfaction at being able to visit the Centre and conveyed impressions of US soldiers who confirmed that it was a "great place for training."

- I am very pleased with what I have seen while visiting training facilities and I am looking forward to opportunities for continued cooperation and the fact that our soldiers will continue coming here for training - US Defence Attaché Colonel Taft Blackburn said.

On behalf of the Training Command, today's visit was also attended by Deputy Commander Brigadier General Jelesije Radivojevic, with Commander of the Second Army Brigade Brigadier General Dragoslav Sladakovic and Head of Operations of the General Staff Major General Vojin C Jondic.
