Minister of Defence receives Letter of Gratitude from the Town of Uzice

On the occasion of the Day of the Town of Uzice, tonight, at the ceremony in Uzice theatre, Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic was presented the Letter of Gratitude for his personal involvement and engagement of the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces in eliminating the consequences of natural disasters and an emergency caused by disruption of water supply in the Town of Uzice.

The ceremony was attended by the ministers in the Serbian Government, Chief of General Staff of the Serbian Armed Forces General Ljubisa Dikovic, clergy, representatives of the Town, and many other guests.

Gasic addressed the audience saying that Uzice has firm support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, as evidenced by sending aid in the amount of one million euros for the immediate solution of the problems of water supply for the Town for works related to the Susica springs, from which the water for the citizens of Uzice is supplied.

- During these difficult days for this town, the Serbian Armed Forces also gave its great contribution to the delight of Uzice citizens who were happy to see the army again in their city, said the Minister, adding that the town management had concluded agreements with the Ministry of Defence on purchasing two large military facilities, and it was agreed with the Mayor of Uzice Tihomir Petkovic in which way the town management will fulfil its obligations to that ministry in the forthcoming period.

Award of the Town of Uzice for extraordinary achievements in work was presented also to Second Lieutenant Goran Savic, the best cadet of the 1st class of the MMA Faculty of Medicine.

On the occasion of the Day of the Town the audience was addressed by the Mayor of Uzice Tihomir Petkovic, who recalled the tasks carried out, the results achieved in the past year and talked about priorities and plans for the future of Uzice.
