Meeting of Minister of Defence and General Manager of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency



Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic spoke today with General Manager of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency (NSPA) Mike Lyden about cooperation between Serbia and NATO on logistical support in the field of arms and military equipment.

Састанак министра одбране и генералног менаџера НАТО Агенције за подршкуThe interlocutors agreed that previous meetings of representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the NATO Support and Procurement Agency represent a good foundation for cooperation in the field of logistics, and the just signed Agreement in the field of logistical support is an excellent basis for continued cooperation. Signing of this Agreement will allow for our overhaul facilities, as well as the capacities of the Serbian defence industry, to be offered in programs of cooperation under the auspices of NSPA, primarily to engage our capacities in maintaining the arms of the armed forces of partner countries.

During the talks, Gasic stressed that the Ministry of Defence pays special attention to the development of our defence industry. We are particularly interested in the promotion of cooperation in the field of strengthening the capacities and the SAF units deployed in peacekeeping missions, engagement in partnership programs in the field of armament and training of young officers, Defence Minister said.

Minister Gasic thanked his interlocutor on the support of the NATO Support and Procurement Agency in the implementation of the Trust Fund. It is expected that the reconciliation process for the Implementation Agreement between the Ministry of Defence and the NATO Support and Procurement Organisation (NSPO) will be finished in the upcoming period, and that the implementation of the project under the auspices of the Fund will commence during the first quarter of 2016.
