Exhibition "Serbia 1915" opened at the Military Museum
It is an exhibition designed by senior curator Vuk Obradovic, which exactly a century after the enemy attack on the Kingdom of Serbia reflects on one of the most disturbing periods in our history through the abundance of artistic and historical objects, works of art, photographic reproductions and original documents from the period.
Opening the exhibition, Assistant Minister for Human Resources Milos Jankovic pointed out that the heritage shown there teaches us and reminds us of the readiness and courage of the Serbian people and the army in uncompromising sacrifice for the realization of libertarian ideas.
- Exactly one hundred years ago, somewhere in this place, it was not possible to stand like this, as we stand here today. This area was, as we all know well, a target of enemy grenades, and in the shelter of dungeons that are here below us, Serbian soldiers awaited for a hostile infantry attack - Assistant Minister Jankovic reminded, adding that in 1915 a disproportionately greater force attacked our country, but the Serbian soldiers did not flinch in defending what is most sacred.
Commenting on the exhibition, Head of the Military Museum Colonel Dragan Radenkovic emphasized that it was envisioned in the form of three topics – The Strike, Epidemic and the Retreat, which chronologically follow the developments during that year. Although not many items were saved from this period, Colonel Radenkovic singled out a very rare Austro-Hungarian memorial badge that the enemy soldiers attached to their chest after the capture of Belgrade.
