Meeting of Djordjevic and Whiteside

State Secretary at the Ministry of Defence Zoran Djordjevic and acting Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy of NATO Ted Whiteside discussed the cooperation between Serbia and NATO within the Partnership for Peace Programme and the cooperation of the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR.

Participation in the Partnership for Peace Programme is fully in line with the policy of military neutrality and enables Serbia to develop skills for active contribution to the Common Security and Defence Policy of the EU, Djordjevic said during the talks. The officials agreed that Serbia enjoys the status of a reliable and responsible partner and that it is firmly committed to cooperation with all countries and international organizations with the goal of strengthening regional and global security.

The adoption of the Individual Partnership Action Plan (IPAP) between Serbia and NATO represents a qualitative improvement in the relations and implies a broader political dialogue and integrated approach of government institutions in cooperation with the Alliance. Implementation of IPAP should contribute to even better cooperation with NATO, as well as the achievement of interoperability and strengthening of military capacities to contribute to international peace.

During meeting, it was also noted that the Ministry of Defence and the Serbian Armed Forces timely and transparently inform the public about the activities of cooperation with NATO within the Partnership for Peace Programme, and about all activities of international military cooperation in the defence system.
