Minister Gasic met with UAE Ambassador

Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Belgrade Juma Rashed Saif Zayed Al Dhaheri talked about relations between the two countries and cooperation in the field of defence.

They agreed that well-developed cooperation between Serbia and the UAE should be further improved in the field of defence. Minister Gasic stressed that in addition to the already signed Agreement on Cooperation in the field, the cooperation is further improved by the Joint Declaration on the establishment of strategic partnership, as well as the contract on joint development and equipping the missile system "ALAS" between the company "Yugoimport SDPR" and company EARTH (Emirates Advanced Research & Technology Holding LLC). He therefore proposed that in the future period the possibility of continuing cooperation on the development programs of common interest should be considered.

In addition to military economic and scientific-technical cooperation, among other focal areas for strengthening future cooperation they underlined the military education and military medical cooperation, as well as military-military cooperation, which increases operative capabilities of armed forces.

During the meeting, they also discussed the migrant crisis that has hit the region as of lately. It was noted that Serbia had proved to be a very responsible member of the international community, which seeks to solve the problem in the spirit of national interest, but also in the interest of the protection of fundamental human rights.

In the beginning of the meeting , Minister Gasic expressed regret over the deaths of 45 members of the UAE Armed Forces during a missile attack on the base in the Yemeni province of Ma'rib.
